As part of ‘Tend to It’ TOMA Group Show, 2021.
Southend-On-Sea.

In 1996 Clive Stewart (artist father) undertook an archaeological A-level,
which included documenting the entire process of creating a Neolithic bow.

Over the last 24 years Clive and Philippa have shared an
affinity for history, skill sharing, experiential processes, primordial heritage
and ideas around survivalism.

Made to Work is a sculptural installation which
draws upon childhood and memory, combining pieces from
their past such as the original hafted axe and glove which Clive used
to make said bow, re-framed with new work by Philippa such as a
giant engraved leather palm pad and a reflective mirror fly tent.

This relationship between Father and Daughter is further explored
in the video Neolithic Bow Project where Philippa digitally transferred
original footage from her father’s A level bow project and interspersed
and overlaid with a video zoom chat between them both,
discussing everything from their interests, processes and
materials to life.
